Bix Weller
The man behind the counter at Holo Hollow Souvenirs + Mining Supplies, and the best-informed person in town.
Bix Weller runs Holo Hollow Souvenirs + Mining Supplies, which is one shop with two names and a firm opinion about which of them counts.
His parents opened it when people still came to Holo Hollow on purpose, and filled it with shirts, mugs and little projector toys — anything a child could talk a parent into buying on the way home. Bix grew up in it and took it over. The original Souvenirs sign is still up; the + Mining Supplies board is bolted on underneath, rougher and newer. That is the shop's entire history in one piece of signage.
He still stocks the souvenirs. They do not move. The mining gear does. He does not accept that this makes it a mining store.
Over the counter
Bix sells Power Cells, and buys Ferrite Shale, Refined Ferrite, Slag and any spare cells you are carrying — see Credits & Trading for what each is worth. Talking to him and trading with him are separate things, and you can do either without the other.

Bix will talk you out of a sale. Before you spend anything he will point out that the DeWhat? Emergency Power Annex up the road issues five cells a day to anyone who walks up, for nothing.
He also knows why, which is more than most of the town does. Back when projector nights filled every room out here, Settled Systems required a public emergency power depot; DeWhat? won the contract and installed it; the tourists left and the contract did not. He will sell you a cell anyway, and explain the arithmetic without being asked — five a day for him and five a day for you is not what stocks a shop.

He remembers Holo Hollow busy. Whole families, projector nights, full rooms, children trying to spend every Credit they had before their parents got them back into the speeder. Then the new releases stopped working here, and everybody discovered somewhere else to be.
He is dry about all of it rather than bitter, and he is one of the few people out here who will give you a straight answer even when a vaguer one would make him money.
